Jay Ajayi took the NFL by storm in 2016, running for over 1,000 yards, and running for 200+ yards three times. Though some believe his performances were flukes, I believe that only good is in store for Ajayi.
Ajayi was one of my favorite running backs in the 2015 NFL Draft, due to his physical running style, and freakish athletic ability. Ajayi struggled to get playing time in 2015, due to the presence of Lamar Miller, but with Miller gone, Ajayi started in nearly every game in 2016.
The biggest concern about Ajayi is consistency, which makes sense. Ajayi only had four games with 100+ yards, and three of those were 200+ yard games. My response to that is that the Dolphins offensive line was inconsistent too, and running backs aren’t going to perform if they don’t have holes to run through. This season the Dolphins offensive line should be more consistent, because offensive tackles, Laremy Tunsil, and Ja’Wuan James are rapidly improving as they gain experience.
Jay Ajayi will enjoy an extremely productive season, rushing for over 1,500 yards and 10 touchdowns.
