The Buffalo Bills drafted wide receiver Zay Jones in the 2nd round in the 2017 NFL Draft to be a starting wide receiver alongside Sammy Watkins. Jones checked all the boxes during the Senior Bowl and the NFL Scouting Combine. By trusting the process, he proved to scouts he was one of the top receivers in the draft.
Jones is the perfect wide receiver for the Bills. The 6’2, 200 lb. wideout runs a 4.45 40-yard dash, boasts strong hands, and excellent stamina. Jones can go up and catch the 50-50 ball, and has the laid-back personality to thrive in Buffalo.
Jones isn’t exactly the perfect prospect. There are concerns that his small-school background will hurt him in the NFL. When running deep routes he struggles to get enough separation to catch the ball. He is best at running intermediate routes, such a bubble screens, slants, ins, and outs. Luckily for Jones, the Bills run a “West Coast” offense where these routes are featured.
Zay Jones will thrive for the Bills, catching 80 passes, for 1,000 yards, and 10 touchdowns. He will win Rookie of the Year.
